Acne after the sea: how to get rid of holiday acne in just 3 steps
Learn to control your capricious skin while you enjoy your vacation
There is an opinion that the sun and salt water, that is, a vacation on the southern coast, can have a positive effect on the skin, drying out inflammation on the face and body. And this is partly true, but at the same time, there are other environmental factors that can aggravate the situation. The quality of air and water, the level of humidity and even deviations from the usual daily routine in both nutrition and care can provoke skin problems. And if you have sensitive skin or skin prone to redness and rashes, then the percentage of inflammation increases several times. A professional cosmetologist told how they can be prevented or neutralized if the problem is already evident.
Causes of inflammation on the skin after a vacation at sea
When we fly on vacation to hot countries, there is a change in climatic conditions, to which our entire body and skin in particular react. Warm air and high humidity can trigger both pneumonia and acne. The fact is that heat and humidity are the most favorable environment that promotes the intensive reproduction of pathogenic bacteria, such as propionibacterium acne. And they are very contagious, so it is extremely easy to get infected with them. Roughly speaking, you scratched your face with an unwashed hand, an infection joined in, and inflammation began (read also: Psychosomatics of acne on the face: what experiences does acne reveal?).
How to stop inflammation at the initial stages
Of course, you can. In general, it is good to take powder from the pharmacy or metrogyl drugs with you on trips – all these products prevent pathogenic bacteria from spreading and reduce rashes. An alternative could be a toner for oily skin, which includes tea tree extract or tannins, which help reduce the production of sebaceous glands and further growth of bacteria. As a result, skin inflammation gradually goes away.
Skin “rescue plan” upon returning from vacation
First, you need to establish a self-care regimen. At a minimum, thoroughly but gently cleanse your skin and work locally with rashes.
Second, review your skin care cosmetics, because at the moment you may need medicinal, pharmacy drugs or products for oily skin to dry out the problem areas that have appeared. It is better to discuss their choice with a cosmetologist.
Thirdly, never squeeze pimples or cauterize them with alcohol – this will only worsen the overall picture, as it will cause aggressive trauma to the skin, and contact dermatitis with redness and inflammation around the element will occur (read also: A complete guide to acne: what types of inflammation there are and how to deal with them).
