A surprise from the plumbers, I got it out of the pipe when I was replacing the meters. I show what it is
“Honey, can you check the pipes, our water pressure has gotten really low?” asked the granny I came to replace the meters to.
“Okay, I’m going to change the meters anyway, so I’ll check there too. Most likely, dirt has accumulated in the mesh in front of the water meter,” I told the old lady.
When there is no coarse filter in front of the meters, then all the large debris begins to accumulate on the flow meter diffuser, as shown in the photo.
However, in this case, there was something different in the polypropylene water pipe. When I removed the old rubber lining, I felt this different. There was something soft and slippery in the pipe. I’ve never felt anything like that in pipes. I was interested and at the same time disgusted.
So, I took and dug out this thing with a screwdriver.
Its appearance scared me. As if it was some kind of nasty slug.
So soft, like a living creature. However, the thing showed no signs of life. Then I plucked up my courage and started to pull…
And then it dawned on me that it was a rubber fingertip or a dense ball. Most likely, careless plumbers forgot it when they were repairing the pipe.
It is specially inserted into the pipe to stop drops of water that drip from the riser during welding. After they finished welding, the plumbers burst it, but part of the rubber remained in the pipe. And then it crawled out of the pensioner.
