A wet towel on the stove – why do I put it there? Sharing personal experience

The kitchen is an area where a responsible and good housewife has to spend a lot of time in any case. Everything gets dirty there very quickly. Of course, the main source of dirt is the stove. Fatty food, coloring products, something leaked, something boiled over or burned – traces of all manipulations always remain on the hob. Of course, the problem needs to be solved somehow, and I can tell you how exactly.

How it happens
Once a friend dropped by to see me, the visit was unexpected, so she found me in the kitchen – I had just managed to dirty my stove from the bottom of my heart, but had not yet managed to wash it. Before that, I had just spilled some jam, and these dried, hard-to-remove stains remained. My friend recommended the following methods for removing dirt.

But first, I’ll give you some advice from myself – you should never run out of soda, vinegar or citric acid in your kitchen. These simple ingredients are very helpful in cleaning the stove.

And my friend, in agreement with me, also advised me to sprinkle a hearty layer of soda on the hob and leave it for about two hours. Then I simply wiped it with a damp cloth and washed everything off without any effort.

If you use vinegar, you should not just pour it on the stains themselves, but on the napkin that covers these stains. This way the liquid will not spread, but will remain where its action is needed.

Or you can simply prevent contamination
But the main advice that I received from my housewife friend was that since I cook so actively and a lot, it is better for me to simply protect the stove from contamination and drying in advance. For this, she suggested that I use a wet towel – cover the stove with it.

The “trick” of this method is that wet fabric is not afraid of open fire. In addition, thanks to the moisture in it, all the dirt will remain on the surface of the towel and will not dry out – it will be easy to remove it right away, after cooking.

You can also improve this method and sprinkle a layer of baking soda on top of the wet towel, which will actively protect the surface of the stove from fragments and drops of food that so love to fall out or fall out of the frying pan or saucepan when stirring. The soda will simply dissolve them and will not allow them to settle on the stove and “cook” in it. It will be enough to simply remove the towel – and the clean stove will not even need to be wiped!
